His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte received at an official meeting the ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, Vasil Grivna. The reception took place in the building of the Holy Metropolis of Sofia, the Bulgarian Patriarchate announced.
Ambassador Hrivna emphasized the good relations between Bulgaria and Slovakia, sharing with the Holy Patriarch more about the life of the Orthodox Church in the Czech lands and Slovakia, led and spiritually guided by Metropolitan Rostislav. He also shared that Bulgaria is a desired travel and pilgrimage destination for Slovaks and told about his first visit to our country, which happened several decades ago.
His Holiness wished Ambassador Vasil Grivna a successful mandate and hopes were expressed for cooperation in various initiatives – educational and public.
The meeting was also attended by Their Eminences – Bishop Gerasim of Melnysh, chief secretary of the Holy Synod, Bishop Polykarp of Belogradchik – vicar of the patriarch, as well as Teodor Atanasov – head of the patriarch’s office, and Angel Mladenov – secretary of the Sofia Metropolitanate.
