The President of Slovakia warned against violating the unity of Western states in relation to the Russian Federation in connection with the war in Ukraine
Slovak President Zuzana Caputova said that helping Ukraine, which is fighting a full-scale Russian invasion, is also beneficial for the security of all European states.
By helping Kyiv, the West keeps the aggressor state away from the borders of the EU, she said at the opening of the Globsec international conference in Bratislava.
The President warned against violating the unity of Western states in relation to the Russian Federation in connection with the war in Ukraine.
Chaputova also noted that economic sanctions against Russia due to its full-scale invasion of Ukraine are having an effect and Moscow has less and less resources to purchase weapons.
“Our unity is being tested. Those who say that our means do not work, or that we should focus on our own interests, are mistaken,” Chaputova said.
The President of Slovakia added that it was thanks to the unity of the Western countries that they coped with the consequences of the war in Ukraine better than expected. Ukraine is also successfully resisting the Russian invasion, she added.
“Gas reserves are at record levels, inflation is falling, Russia controls less territory than a year earlier,” Chaputova said.
