The Regional Centre For Mapping Of Resources For Development (RCMRD) recently hosted a delegation team from the Sudan High Commission to Kenya, led by Mr Kamal Gobara, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, and Mr Abdulrahman Mohammed, Deputy Head of Mission, to leverage GIS solutions to improve local agricultural landscape and broader environmental sustainability efforts.
Furthermore, to enhance tailored insights, RCMRD is implementing a project in collaboration with the Sudanese Natural Resources General Directorate and the Climate Technology Centre and Network to assess soil erosion using advanced atomic absorption to support climate-resilient agriculture. The findings from this assessment will inform targeted interventions and strategies to mitigate the impact of soil erosion, ultimately enhancing the region’s capacity to adapt to changing climate conditions and boost agricultural products.
The delegation team’s visit further amplifies the project’s diplomatic and international significance. Such engagements signify both nations’ commitment to address shared environmental concerns and pave the way for potential knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts in similar projects across borders.
