Lawyer Miguna Miguna has said a judicial inquiry must be done, even if all the four embattled IEBC commissioners resign.

In a statement on Friday, Miguna said Kenyans deserved to know the events of the August 9, presidential elections.

“Kenyans deserve to know everything that transpired before, during and after the August 9, 2022, presidential election.”

The four including Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi disagreed with chair Wafula Chebukati over the winner of the elections.

They disowned the results which saw William Ruto declared president.

“We must know who did what, when, with whom and why. This is imperative even if or when the opaque Cherera 4 resign in shame. A Judicial Inquiry is a must,” Miguna added.

So far, one of the four has already resigned.

Nyang’aya wrote a resignation letter to President Ruto on Friday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation as a commissioner of the IEBC effective today (Friday),” he said.

“In the last few weeks, I have had serious soul searching and being a man of faith, prayed fervently so that I may have the wisdom to make a decision that is in the best interest of the country.”

The four are facing a tribunal to investigate the accusations before them, which include gross misconduct and acting in violation of the law.

The tribal, commissioned on earlier by Ruto, is chaired by High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule.
