Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says that Kenya and Colombia have a lot to learn and gain from each other.
Speaking on Wednesday, Gachagua said with stronger ties, the two countries can unlock plenty of trade opportunities between them.
“Kenya and Colombia have a lot to learn from each other. With stronger ties between the two Nations opportunities for trade, education, cultural exchanges, among others are abound,” he said.
He spoke at a high-level Kenya-Colombia Business Forum meeting at the Chamber of Commerce Office in Bogota.
During the meeting, the DP and business leaders from Colombia exchanged notes on the available opportunities for both countries to explore.
“Kenya is an anchor state for Eastern Africa; it is also among the strongest economies on the Continent. As we seek Public-Private Partnerships, investors from Colombia and both Nations will mutually benefit,” Gachagua said.
He later on held a meeting with Colombia’s vice president Francia Marquez Mina.
Gachagua said they held fruitful engagements of deepening bilateral relations between Kenya and Colombia, which date back to 1967.
“I also held a bilateral meeting with H.E Marquez Mina to strengthen further reciprocal trade opportunities. We thank President Gustavo Petro and the Vice President for their magnanimity,” he said.
“We look forward to better trade and investment ahead.”
Gachagua left the country on Sunday night to attend the Coffee Producers and Roasters Forum in Medellin, Colombia.
He was accompanied by Foreign Affairs and Diaspora CS Alfred Mutua.
He is later expected to represent President William Ruto at the G77 Summit in Havana, Cuba.
