Embu governor Cecily Mbarire storms police station demanding release of residents in custody

Tension is high in Siakago town, Mbeere North Sub County of Embu county as Embu governor Cecily Mbarire walks to Siakago police station to push for the release of residents arrested after fracas ensued between Muguka traders from Meru and residents of Nthawa ward in Mbeere North.

Some people were injured as Muguka kiosks were set ablaze. In the company of County police commander Daniel Rukunga the governor addressed angry residents who have decried the rise of insecurity.

They say some youths from Meru County have been orchestrating the theft of motorbikes and other runaway crimes. The governor has called for the transfer all police officers manning Siakago police station.
